Pikilyi is a significant natural spring and waterhole located at Mt Doreen Station in the Northern Territory. It is the home of two rainbow serpents, representing a married couple from different skin groups – the wife from the Napananka group and the husband from Japangardi. In Walpiri culture, this pairing is considered taboo. These serpents are the 'kirda,' or traditional custodians, of the land.
