LOVEBomb Jewellery

Sacred By Design

Founded by Sacred by Design, LOVEBomb Jewellery was born from a desire to create beauty from something once destructive. Working with four families in the Xieng Khuang Province of Laos, the team transforms recycled aluminium from bombs dropped during the Secret War into meaningful, handcrafted jewellery.

Each piece is carefully melted, poured into moulds, and shaped by skilled artisans under Fair Trade conditions — turning remnants of war into symbols of hope.

Today, a percentage of every sale is reinvested directly into the local community, supporting education, sanitation, and long-term development.

FROM CONFLICT TO CRAFT.

LOVEBomb’s artisan team is based in Ban Naphia, a traditional Lao village in Xieng Khuang Province. The team is led by Mr Sone Boummakuilay and Mrs Thone Thammavone, who work alongside local families to produce the recycled bomb jewellery.

The aluminium used in LOVEBomb pieces comes from airplane parts and bombs dropped throughout Laos in the 1960s. With support from Swiss NGO Helvetas, villagers have been trained in safe gathering, smelting, and cleaning practices to ensure the aluminium is handled responsibly before being crafted into jewellery.

Sacred by Design works closely with the community to promote fair trade principles and sustainable development. Their commitment extends beyond craftsmanship — it includes improving kiln efficiency to reduce wood consumption, diversifying recycled product ranges to support income growth, and strengthening safe aluminium supply chains through proper training and professional UXO clearing support.

But beyond the technical processes, the impact is deeply human.

Through income opportunities, school supply deliveries, handwashing stations, and sponsorship of new education facilities, LOVEBomb has helped create meaningful change in one of the most remote regions of Laos.

Each piece tells a story — not just of transformation, but of resilience.
