These stunning heart cards from Better World Arts feature a stunning lacquered heart decoration that is a result of cultural and economic exchange between Australian Aboriginal artists and cottage industry artisans in the remote and beautiful Kashmir Valley, where handicrafts are the main export.

The paper used is eco-friendly, being made from cotton scraps sourced from the garment industry. No wood or toxic chemicals are used. One tonne of handmade paper saves an estimated 277 eucalyptus trees. At the moment 149 acres of forest are destroyed per minute.

Mina Mina Jukurrpa. A group of women of all ages travels east gathering food and collecting “Ngalyipi” (snake vine), performing ceremonies as they travel. The wavy lines represent the snake vines, the u shapes are the women sitting at camp, and the circles are edible mushrooms collected on their travels. The two straight lines are digging sticks.

The heart is handmade and hand-painted by skillful artisans in Kashmir Valley.
